Get ready!  This is the first of (not one, but) two giveaways this month that will be sponsored by BlogHer.

As many of you may have noticed, Seattle’s Best has recently been kicking things up a notch.  Amongst other things, they’ve taken on a new logo, a new website, and now a new “levels” system for their different kinds of coffee!  So to test things out, they sent me and these other BlogHer food bloggers some samples of the new coffees to taste-test.

But before the coffee ever hit my french press, I went online to check out this intriguing new levels system.  Read on to hear about it, and get details for entering the giveaway for a $100 Amazon giftcard!

Now I have to admit, this “levels” system appealed to me for a few reasons…

First of all, I’m admittedly somewhat of a coffee novice (who happens to be good friends with a bunch of coffee snobs experts).  :)  I definitely give opinions whenever I really like (or don’t like) a specific cup of coffee.  But I couldn’t tell you the difference between a macchiato and a latte to save my life.  (Although Google just told me in 0.12 seconds.)

Second, I have a secret love of numbers and systems.  I may be an artist by profession, but I was a total math nerd in high school (and may have even competed in a math contest or two!).  So as much as I enjoy sometimes reading the fine print about the specifics of the flavor of each bag of coffee, the idea of a simple numbers system — especially when in a hurry — is a welcome option.

Third, as much as I love coffee shops (and the occasional drive-thru before an early morning at work), I’m making a conscious effort this year to make most of my coffee at home, and only do coffee “out” when I’m with friends.  So I’m in the slow process of beginning to taste-taste more blends and narrow down some of my favorites.  So if these levels will help narrow down my favorites with Seattle’s Best, bring it on!

So I went to www.seattlesbest.com to give it a go…

And while each of the 5 profile descriptions definitely make you feel good about yourself, I was surprised to find that “Level 2″ seemed most like me. “Spontanteous and fun, you’re a curious optimist.  Fond of going off the beaten path, you enjoy creating your own adventures and seeing where your heart leads you.” The tagline for this level also says that “it makes ‘woke up on the wrong side of the bed’ obsolete”.  Um, yes please.

I would def go with a level 1 because I am not a big coffee drinker but when I do drink it I like it to taste more like the flavoring/sugar/creamer/whatever than the coffee! :D
