giveaway: salsabol

August 1st, 2010

‘Tis the season for homemade salsa!!!  Well, actually, I’m pretty much obsessed with chips and salsa year-round.  But with so many delicious, ripe tomatoes, peppers, and other fresh veggies in abundance, this is the perfect time to whip up a batch!

So when Salsabol contacted me this month and asked if we’d like to do a giveaway on the site, I was intrigued.  Apparently, the creators are two guys who share the salsa-love, but were frustrated by salsa spillage over the side of their bowls.  So they designed these cute little bowls with a special “lip” that pushes the salsa (or dip) back onto your chip each time you scoop.

My friends and I were more than happy to give this cute little bowl a “test” this week, with a batch of fresh summer veggies salsa (recipe to follow!).  And sure enough, we didn’t even need to have another bowl or plate underneath the Salsabol – zero spillage!  As they promised, the bowl indeed “saved our salsa”.  Who knew?!

So to celebrate salsa season and this creative idea from Salsabol, we’re giving away salsabols this week to FOUR lucky Gimme Some Oven readers!  So see below for entry details, and enter to win!  Good luck!!

My favorite salsa is one that my mom found in an old magazine from 1995. It’s amazing. She uses fresh tomatoes right out of her garden. It’s healthy, packed with flavor, and delicious alone or with a meal!

My favorite kinds of salsa just include no onions, and extra hot peppers. Usually I use jalapenos and habaneros. I also find that my salsa goes best with blue corn chips.

I’m a facebook fan as well!

I must admit to being a bit lazy when it comes to salsa and just buying whichever one on the shelf looks good, but when it comes to making something to dip into myself, I love chunky guacamole – I pile avocado, spanish onion, tomato and a tiny amount of hot pepper into the food processor, give it a quick whiz and it’s all set!

I simply adore Pioneer Woman’s pico de gallo recipe…I was under the impression that my favorite salsa was ridiculously hard to make until I found it on her site.

i enjoy salsas that are tasty and not just spicy. generally i feel that roasting the peppers and/or tomatoes gives a better look and flavor. please don’t put in big pieces of cilantro. make it very small or leave it out all together.
